Oldtimer automotive - a zero team media film
I’m admittedly a very self-centered person. I prioritise myself over many things in life, loved ones, life events and even the ocassional C U Next Tuesday. Alas, if I am the epitomy of the dregs of a shitty socially awkward society, then Brian Dunne is Chrst here to save us all from the miserable bastards of the world.
That may seem like a peculiar paragraph to kick things off, even by my own weird standards but I’m currently very much on a person vibe.
Let me explain. For the longest time, I thought people were a way of getting to shoot cool cars. That they were a necessary evil that I had to bypass by whatever means necessary in order to see the cool cars I so desperately craved. And at the time, given some of the company I’ve kept in the past, that may well have been true.
Alas, I’ve been blessed with some positive role models in my life these last few years and they’ve certainly changed my tune. Take Brian Dunne for instance. A mutual friend often spoke of a man called ‘Diesel Dunne‘ and for quite some time I heard stories of this man and his father who loved cramming diesel engines into the engine bays of what were once petrol motors. Now safe to say, 24 year old me thought this man may have been my anti-christ. That such sacriligious acts should have been punishable by death or castration.
However, since having befriended the man a few years back, spent countless hours in his company, not including the 3 full days at Dubshed this year, where we even managed to wine and dine ourselves in Lisburn without getting seriously injured. I’d have to say, hes not the worst of ‘em. In fact, I’d go so far as to say hes alright, for a lad from Tipperary.
Whilst we have more than a few stories to tell from the last few years, I think the biggest and most impressive of them all is Brians creation of Oldtimer Automotive. His first venture into running his own automotive restoration business, or any business for that matter! We managed to get him to sit still for a few hours in between blasting his ‘76 911 through the hills of West Tipperary to discuss his business, now in its 9th month, how things are going and what motivates him to offer a service that most people would shy away from.
This is our first venture into revealing the people behind the cars. The type of coverage that this country is truly lacking. Stay tuned!
